Turquoise Bracelet
Elena’s father got this bracelet as a surprise for her mother, an opera singer, in 1965 in Santa Fe. It was a special trip because her grandfather had gotten tickets to the Santa Fe Opera and had asked the Opera Company to audition her. When her grandfather secretly went back and bought her this bracelet and presented it to her mom, she screamed with excitement. It reminds Elena of a time when they were really close, and when he really supported her mother. Elena, by the way, is the proprietor of Ratto’s and her grandfather started the business. Elena has generously tolerated me soliciting participants in front of Ratto’s each week.
